JOBS IN RWANDA

AVSI Foundation is a non-governmental organization based at Kigali, Gasabo, Kimironko, in Bibare cell.Inyamibwa village
With UNICEF support, AVSI Foundation is conducting a research on the “Capacity Assessment of Child Protection Stakeholders for Emergency Preparedness and Response”.
The aim of this research is to identify gaps and needs in terms of capacity-building, and to inform subsequent capacity building initiatives for national and district level stakeholders to improve response- and disaster preparedness capacities.
Consequently, AVSI wishes to recruit, for two months:
  • a Research Coordinator,
  • a Research Coordinator Assistant, and
  • 11 data collectors.
Responsibilities and terms of reference are below detailed:
I.The Researcher Coordinator, during two months is expected to complete the following activities:
ü Insure that the assessment achieves the intended levels of quality and impact
ü Develop adapted assessment tools
ü Coordinate the data collection and data analysis
ü Manage and mentor the research team
ü Be Responsible for obtaining authorization for the research from relevant government authorities (Unicef will help)
ü Be responsible for arranging the appointments with targeted community members and officers
ü Observe and build the capacity of the data collectors
ü Analyse data, provide relevant Recommendations and Prepare the final Report
Required qualifications for research coordinator
  • An individual expert with a minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in qualitative research, data analysis and reporting with a focus on child protection issues in humanitarian situation, preferably in Rwanda,
  • Demonstrable experience in developing qualitative research tools
  • Demonstrable experience in implementation of social researches in Rwanda,
  • Extensive experience in research design including sampling and other quantitative and qualitative research methods,
  • Ability to use key data analysis software e.g. STATA, SPSS, CSPro, SAS, etc,
  • Proven training and facilitation skills,
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Experience in coordinating diverse teams
  • Strong analytical, presentation and writing skills in English, French and Kinyarwanda.
II.The Research Coordinator Assistant during two months:
On Oversight of the Research Coordinator, the Research Coordinator Assistant will:
ü Help in development of assessment tools
ü Carry out field visits to facilitate and insure the quality of data collection
Help in data analysis and in preparedness of final report
ü Responsible for the logistic needs (list and records of research team, demand of facilities and material, payroll etc.)
Required qualifications for research coordinator Assistant
  • An individual expert with a minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience in research focusing on child protection issues in humanitarian situation in Rwanda,
  • Demonstrable experience in developing qualitative research tools
  • Ability to use key data analysis software e.g. STATA, SPSS, CSPro, SAS, etc,
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Demonstrable ability in team working.
III.11 data collectors, during 10 days
ü Contribute to the finalizing and validation of research tools
ü Collect data from the targeted zone of assessment
ü Data entry and data cleaning to prepare analysis phase
Required qualifications for data collector
  • Demonstrable experience in data collection particularly in conducting individual interviews and group discussions
  • Ability to use data analysis software: : STATA, SPSS, CSPro, SAS, etc,
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Demonstrable ability in team working
  • Computer skills
