OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
To support Member States in scaling up TT surgery and train local personnel in the framework of the SAFE strategy and in accordance with WHO guidelines
Description of duties:
The consultant will work under the supervision of WHO Country Office and the Eye Health focal point at WHO-AFRO.

The contractual partner is requested to:

1. Propose a training curriculum on TT surgery following WHO guidelines, training resources and endorsed publications;
2. Undertake TT surgery campaigns in the agreed districts selected by the Member States-Ministry of Health;
3. Train the nominated junior local ophthalmic surgeons as well as ophthalmic nurses and community workers participating in the campaign for a period of 3 months;
4.Supervise in an additional random field visit (7 days; M9) TT surgeries performed during his/her absence;
5. Provide regular basis feedback to the WCO and Regional Office/AFRO Eye Health Unit by phone/email.
6.Provide relevant reports of achievements referring to this offer.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A university degree in Medicine with a Master's degree in Ophthalmoloy..
Skills: 
- Excellent surgical skills and knowledge of TT surgeries in line with WHO recommendations.

- Ability to work in rural remote areas, where sometimes life conditions could be difficult.
- be flexible concerning the starting of the field campaign, based on the field conditions as proposed by the Member State.
Experience:
At least seven years of clinical and surgical practice of which at least four years of ophthalmic plastic surgery.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English or French and a good working knowledge of the other.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
at single rate
