Applications are invited for the post of full-time Systems Administrator (6-months fixed term). The successful candidate will be based within the CIM IT-support group, which supports the departments of Computer Science, Information Security and Mathematics.
The role includes support and administration of Linux desktops and servers, as well as the cluster that supports students on the MSc programme is ‘Big Data’.
Applicants are expected to have excellent Linux systems administration skills with knowledge and experience of optimising a Hadoop cluster in a research-based environment, and a passion to learn new skills and technologies. The successful candidate will also support the delivery of new services by the CIM IT-support group and liaise directly with departmental users.
This is a full time post, available from January 2015, or as soon as possible thereafter for a fixed term period of 6-months. Although the post is on a 6-months fixed contract, we anticipate that there will be opportunities for a applying for a fixed-term post during that period. This post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
