The Director General shall assume his tasks under the supervision of the Secretary General in coordination with other departments of the General Secretariat.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • To formulate proposals on ways of cooperation among Member States in the fields of culture, social and family affairs. 
  • To draft progress reports for Ministerial meetings, ICFM, OIC Summit, and other conferences.
  • To collect, study, and circulate information of a cultural character in the interest of the Islamic nations.
  • To provide assistance and cultural guidance to Islamic groups all over the world. 
  • Establishing collaboration with international organizations in regards to cultural and social affairs and participating in the elaboration of conventions and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the General Secretariat and these organizations.
  • To supervise the efficient functioning of the OIC Islamophobia Observatory. 
  • To conduct studies and undertake research on problems and issues affecting youth in Member States. 
  • To encourage and coordinate the activities of established or soon to be established cultural centers.
  • To follow-up the progress of the formulation of related work-programs/proposals for the mandated resolutions vis-à-vis social affairs.
  • To review the work programs/proposals submitted by the relevant organs.
  • To liaise, monitor and follow-up the implementation progress of the resolutions by the related subsidiary organs, specialized institutions and other related organs.
  • To coordinate Ministerial meetings to review and discuss the implementation status of the plan of action.
  • To supervise and coach the work of subordinates in carrying out tasks and responsibilities. 
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
  • Leadership skills. 
  • Sense of responsibility and commitment to the OIC and its goals and programs.
  • Ability to heading a diversity team with high spirit and establishing effective working relationship and cooperation between him and his staff, and between the co-workers.
  • Planning and organizing, ability to establish priorities, coordinate, follow up and monitor activities and programs of action.
  • Analytical and organizational skills, good planning and excellent reporting and drafting capability.
  • Ability to travel at any time as the job requires. 
  • Ability to integrate in international, multi-linguistic and multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete in-depth studies and research conclusions
  • Good computer skills. 
EDUCATION
At least Masters Degree in Social Science, Sociology, Cultural Studies, International Relations, Political Science or a Masters degree in any other relevant study . 
Ph.D. degree, as well as, preparing and publishing researches and studies in the Cultural and Social field will be an added advantage. 
Work Experience
A minimum of 18 years of experience in a related profession.
Languages
Fluent, in at least two of the three official languages of the OIC, which are English, Arabic and French. Preferable to have some knowledge of third language.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • To be a Muslim national of one of the OIC Member States. 
  • To be below fifty-six years of age.
  • To be free of diseases and infirmities that may hinder the exercise of his/her duties
  • To be either nominated by his/her State or his State should have no objection to his/her appointment.
