Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
(5-year performance-based contract)
Ref. SWA/CEO/2015
Reporting to the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and providing strategic leadership for the implementation of the SWA strategy and business plan, as well as organisational control and efficient management of the organisation’s resources, including its human capital. The incumbent will be expected to create and maintain a self-sustaining and financially viable organisation, and champion organisational transformation and turnaround.
Requirements:
• As a minimum, a postgraduate degree in Engineering/Public Management/Business Management
• An MBA would be an added advantage
• Relevant experience at senior level in the water and sanitation sector will also be an added advantage
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience at Executive/Senior Management level in a medium-to-large private or public sector organisation
• Equipped with high-level communication, public speaking, negotiation, people management and strategic thinking skills
• Experience in the private and public sector or familiarity with the MFMA, MSA, Companies Act, King III and corporate governance best practices
• Willingness to take responsibility and make decisions within the defined authority framework (imperative)
• An appreciation of the dynamics of change and how to cope with the same without losing focus on the company mandate
• Must complete Minimum Competency requirements (MFMA) (Office of the Group CFO should be able to provide specific unit standards for Accounting Officer of ME).
Duties:
• Champion and drive efforts to ensure self (financial) sustainability of SWA whilst delivering acceptable services to customers
• Provide sound advice on water policy matters
• Enhance staff morale, the organisation’s performance and public image
• Ensure sound knowledge of legislation applicable to the organisation and business
• Assume all responsibilities associated with an Accounting Officer of a Municipal Organisation.
A highly competitive remuneration package, commensurate with the Executive level of the position is offered.
