Livestock Project Coordinator- Sudan

About the Position:
This job supports Plan strategies and mission through working with communities and other concerned stake holders to facilitate implementation of promoting animal husbandry project in Edduweim area to improve economic status of targeted vulnerable families, which will contribute positively to the children Live’s and will support for more capacity building for all project partners that enable for lasting development.
Dimensions of Role:
  • Develop implementation plan and work plan for the project in line with the approved proposal.
  • Develop partnership agreement with concerned partners; implement the activities in line with approved budget and timeline and quality interventions.
  • Coordinate with government and non-governmental stakeholders in implementation of activities as appropriate.
  • Develop a healthy working relationship among all actors involved.
  • Ensure close follow up and monitoring of the project activities.
  • Ensure documentation and submission of quality narrative reports as stipulated in the donor guidelines.
  • Review project implementation progress on monthly basis, identify delays and put place appropriate measures to put implementation on track.
  • As a budget holder; ensure proper budgeting, forecasting and expenditure recording in line with the donor requirements and procedures.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the responsible staff in the Country Office in Khartoum.
  • The post has to keep his /her office assets which are under the direct responsibility.
  • This post have to mitigate the risk of, child protection issues, value of money and other area related to Plan image.
Key End Results of Position:
  1. Facilitate Mobilization of communities in line with project objectives, and need assessments at the target communities to identify eligible project participants:
  2. Facilitate identification of the project target groups according to the identifies criteria of selection.
  3. Collect project related data and information.
  4. Facilitate livestock beneficiaries on training and raising awareness livestock rearing.
  5. Facilitate formation of livestock groups at the communities.
  6. Identify centre for group gatherings/meetings and schedule/ organize group meeting
  7. Work according to community cultures and norms.
  8. Ensure that no discrimination has been made among the different class’s people in the communities.
  9. Facilitate project implementation and monitoring in close cooperation;
  10. Ensure that the project is managed and implemented in accordance with Plan’s policies and strategies; and that cross-cutting themes are mainstreamed.
  11. Assess communities’ awareness level regarding livestock keeping and facilitate training of project participants on livestock related issues.
  12. Establish linkage mechanism with Veterinary dept.
  13. Follow up vaccination seasons and keep project participants knowledge updated.
  14. Record project lessons learned and challenges and report them to the PUM.
  15. Ensure procurement of supplies, equipment etc. which meet the requirements of the Plan procurement policies.
  16. Maintain good relation with the communities, area representatives and stakeholders through close cooperation with Vet Dept. and the communities and the targeted families;
  17. Monitoring of the project in the target communities. Submit necessary documents to PUM.
  18. Facilitate livestock purchasing, distribution process and other related activities.
  19. Represent Plan Sudan in coordination forums and with key programme stakeholders as required.
  20. Contribute to Plan Sudan organisational learning through participation in relevant workshops, trainings and liaison with other programme team
  21. Any other duties as assigned by the line managers
  22. Ensure the Child Protection Policy and related practices are implemented with additional vigilance.
  23. Ensure the Gender Equality Policy is considered and applied as required in the project implementation phases.
Travel;
The Livestock project coordinator is based in Edduweim Program unit, located in Edduweim Town - Edduweim locality (White Nile Sate), with regular visits to the 6 Targeted communities’. Office based and outside meetings with partners and extensive and prolonged field trips to project locations. And will be required to frequently travel within the State to the field locations as well as to Khartoum.
Qualification and Experience:
Education, Experience, Qualifications
  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine or / Animal Production or related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in livestock management , project management and/or community development an added advantage.
  • Good Knowledge and understanding of animal raring, emergencies and general rural issues.
  • Experience in implementing projects adhering to high quality technical standards where strict attention to detail is required.
  • Experience in working with and through partners and in motivating and developing the skills of others.

Salary and Benefits:
Plan offers a very competitive salary and benefits package to its employees. The starting salary for this post is6,500 SDG (Six Thousands and Five Hundred SDG) per month. In addition to the salary, Plan offers a generous package of benefit and different allowances including health insurance. Plan also pays additional three months basic salary every year to staff during key festivals "Eid Alfeter, and Eid Adha” and in the month when school starts in Sudan. Plan also provides a number of capacity development opportunities to its employees including Talent Management Program.
