About Us:
Millions of the world's poorest and most vulnerable women trust Marie Stopes International (MSI) to provide them with quality sexual and reproductive health care.  We have been delivering contraception, safe abortion, and mother and baby care for over thirty years and work in 38 countries around the world.  By providing high quality services where they are needed the most, we prevent unnecessary deaths and make a sustainable impact on the lives of millions of people every year.
The primary responsibility of this role is to further MSI’s Goal: The Prevention of Unwanted Births and its mission of ensuring the individual’s right to: Children by Choice Not Chance.
The Role:
The Research, Monitoring and Evaluation (RME) team is a valued strategic source of technical leadership and support in MSI.  It spearheads the production, interpretation, and use of high-quality evidence in order to fulfil MSI’s mission.  The team supports operations globally as well as through the Global Research Network (GRN), a group of RME experts based across our country programmes.
The Regional Research Advisor leads the development and use of evidence in the Sahel region and West and Southern African countries.  Through ongoing technical assistance to national MSI research teams and the building of RME capacity, the Regional Research Advisor will support country programmes in the design, implementation, analysis, and utilization of RME activities.  S/he will ensure that research, monitoring, and evaluation programmes directly inform operations, are of high quality, are aligned with MSI global research priorities, meet the demands of internal and external stakeholders, and answer the question of ‘what programming works in reaching those in need with sexual and reproductive health services?’.
About you:
To be considered for the role you will have:
  • Experience utilising a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods to elucidate successful programme activities.
  • Experience working in developing countries for extended periods.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and French.
  • The ability to understand programming – you can see (based on the evidence) how to better implement such activities and can put technical points in lay terms.
  • The capability to influence and persuade program staff, often under tremendous pressure from donors to delivery services now, to invest in changing the way they do things.
  • An easy-going yet concentrated approach.  You are eager to help, sharp, capable under pressure, and have an eye for detail.
  • Are inspired by doing work that directly impacts those most in need
For more information about the role, please view the job framework on our website.
In addition you will have the right to work in the UK and be pro-choice on abortion.
