RESEARCH ADVISOR TO THE PROJECT “Teaching ‘Learning to Learn’ competence
for the knowledge-based society”
 
INTRODUCTION
 
Global Development Network (GDN) is a Public International Organization that promotes social science research in developing and transition countries. It empowers local researchers by giving them access to financial resources, to information, to training and mentoring services and to a global network of development researchers. It contributes to the generation of policy-relevant knowledge on major development issues, and to the interaction between local researchers, their global peers, policymakers and other development stakeholders.
 
The Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (ORD) targets, identifies and funds research proposals with clear policy implications and high potential for addressing development issues in the theme of Education. It enables early-career researchers to carry out quality research with financial support and technical mentoring. The Award is administered by GDN and generously funded by the Ministry of Finance, Government of Japan. More information on the competition can be found at www.gdn.int/awards2016.
 
Three awards were given during GDN’s 17th Annual Global Development Conference, held on 17-18 March in Lima, Peru. GDN is now recruiting a mentor for the 2nd prize winner to accompany and guide her in the research. The awarded researcher will conduct a study on the methods through which the Learning to Learn competence can be developed in Macedonia, also studying the currently used instructional methods, their frequency and quality, following a mixed methods approach.

Job Location: Work from home

Job Description:
  • Provide the research team with inputs and suggestions for:
  1. acomprehensive literature review
  2. the conceptual framework and scope of the study to ensure feasibility and coherence
  3. the research design and variable selection
  4. making the research select appropriate methodology
  5. a genuine collaboration amongst team members
  • Assist the team with access to relevant data or data collection
  • Review all draft reports submitted by the team
  • Provide inputs for synthesis documents and any dissemination materials/events for the project 
Desired Qualification: 
  • Minimum 10 years of post-doctorate experience in education research
  • Prior experience in the Balkan region
Language: Sound knowledge of speaking, reading and writing in English is essential.

Pay Package: USD 3,000

Duration of Position: 5 Working days in a 18 months period (duration of the research project)
