As a non-governmental social development organisation we help children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education and health. Programme INTERN (f/m)
for the region of Middle East and north africa
Location: Casablanca/Morocco
We are offering a three month internship as of 1st of August, within the Programme Department in the International Office of the MENA region of SOS Children’s Villages for high qualified candidates to support the on-going development of our programme work within the region, ensuring the best possible responses to all children in our programmes.
Our office is supporting eight Middle Eastern and North African countries, including Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Morocco.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Assist the Programme Director (PD) and Programme Advisors (PA) in their daily work in order to ensure an adequate implementation of the organisational policies and measures related to Programme quality care. The tasks of the Programme intern will be:
1. Research and design of tools and guidelines
  • Ensure some desk research on priority topics for the Programme Department
  • Support in the finalization of the audit tool
  • Consolidate existing tools and identify needs for update/adjustment/design of new tools in cooperation with PD and PA
  • Prepare concept papers and notes on specific topics to be used for programme meetings and trainings
2. Ensure coordination among the Programme team
  • Drive, with the support of the PD, the process to review coordination of the Department and quality of services provided (survey, consolidation of results, proposals for improvements)
  • Support in the organization of programme meetings and internal meetings
3. Translation work
Support in translation and/or proofreading of various document (Arabic into English or French) and if needed interpretation work
Other tasks could be attributed to the intern according to priorities and needs of the Programme Department team.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent skills in communication and research – capacity to analyse, synthesize information
  • Ability to work under pressure and keep a good sense of humour in a very dynamic environment
  • Strong organisational and self-management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
Languages
  • Fluency in English or French, with excellent writing and speaking skills
  • A high level of Arabic is preferred
Qualifications
Master’s in development studies, international cooperation, sociology or a related field.
An experience in working with children or in psychology related work would be an asset.
SUPERVISION
The direct supervisor of the intern will be the Programme Director.
