Southern Africa Region Communications Director

Here’s where you come in:
As Southern Africa Region Communications Director you will lead the World Vision Southern Africa Regional Office communications and engagement strategy through efforts that 1) build reputation and influence with key audiences, 2) strengthen content for enhanced supporter engagement, resource development and community transformation, and 3) drive staff engagement communications which contribute to organisational effectiveness. The role matrix manages nine National Office communications leaders and emergency response communications managers (currently, one manager working for the El Nino Response).
Requirements include:
  • A University Degree or equivalent in Communications, Media, Journalism, Public Affairs or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in areas of international communications, media and journalism, with a minimum of 5 years leading and managing teams.
  • Demonstrated strength of experience in the development of effective strategic priorities, as well as execution of operational work.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, and to relate cross-culturally with a wide range of international constituencies.
  • Experience living and working in the Southern African Region. – preferred
  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel Domestically and Internationally up to 30% of the time.
