Duration: 10 Months Fixed Term Contract

We are now looking for someone with experience in multi-country advocacy and coalition-building you are ready to take on a CV enhancing role that will use your talents and develop your skills further. Look no further than this International Advocacy Advisor position with the Shifting the Power Project at ActionAid International.
The Shifting the Power project is a START Network project supported by a consortium of 6 humanitarian agencies led by ActionAid and CAFOD. It is designed to support local actors to take their place alongside international actors in order to create a balanced humanitarian system that is more responsive and accountable to disaster affected communities. This project strengthens local and national organisational capacity for decision making and leadership in humanitarian response. It links local to national organisations, and at the same time influences international organisations to promote the role of local and national actors. The project is being implemented in Bangladesh, Kenya, Pakistan, Ethiopia and DRC with leadership from different consortia members.
As International Advocacy Advisor you will be responsible for leading the Project’s advocacy engagement at the global level as well as supporting the development and/or strengthening of the advocacy work in the five countries. This will involve developing advocacy strategies including identify key targets and messages and developing a work plan for the remaining period of the project. You will use evidence and learnings from the project to develop advocacy and communication materials. You will also build relationships with key influencers and represent the Project in relevant global advocacy meetings, conferences, and fora to raise the project profile, promote its advocacy objectives and share evidence and learning from the project.
You must have relevant degree or significant high level exposure to humanitarian issues and advocacy and be expert at understanding and valuing competing viewpoints and divergent interests and find common ground among them. With a strong commitment to the aims of the Project, you are comfortable mastering complex issues quickly and able to translate specialist input into clear and actionable demands. You will also possess strong communication and problem solving skills. You are energetic, enthusiastic and interested I learning within a political, changing and diverse work environment.
